Samuel Randolph Becomes 187th Person Exonerated from Death Row
On April 6th, 2022, Samuel Randolph became the 187th person to be exonerated from a wrongful conviction and death sentence in the United States. Mr. Randolph maintained his innocence during his 20 years wrongfully incarcerated, stating, "I didn't do this. Innocence people don't plead guilty — as bad as I want to go home." After the U.S. Supreme Court declined to review the county prosecutors' appeal of a federal court ruling granting Mr. Randolph a new trial, DA Fran Chardo filed a motion terminating the prosecution of Mr. Randolph.
