Pope says death penalty "prevents any possibility of undoing a possible miscarriage of justice"
Pope Francis has dedicated the month of September to praying for the abolition of the death penalty worldwide and has invited all Catholics to join him in this prayer. In addition to noting that the death penalty encourages vengeance, removes the chance for redemption and violates the sanctity of human life, Pope Francis said that it "prevents any possibility of undoing a possible miscarriage of justice."
