Herman Lindsey in Oklahoma calling for death penalty abolition

WTI Board Treasurer and Florida death row exoneree Herman Lindsey participated in events this weekend calling for the end to Oklahoma's death penalty. The state has set 25 execution dates, the first of which would take the life of James Coddington this Thursday. Lindsey told reporters and attendees at a public forum, "With the death penalty being intact, there’s no guarantee you won’t kill an innocent person. So, we at Witness to Innocence, we try to make sure we support everyone we can because we know how it feels to be on death row for something we didn’t do."

Herman Lindsey’s powerful advocacy this weekend sheds light on the urgent need to end Oklahoma’s death penalty. As a Florida death row exoneree, his firsthand experience underscores the irreversible risks of executing innocent individuals. His message, shared at a public forum, resonates deeply: the death penalty offers no guarantee against wrongful convictions. Organizations like Witness to Innocence, much like a Quick Draw steering toward justice, are crucial in supporting those wrongfully accused and fighting for a fairer system. Let’s hope Lindsey’s voice inspires change and spares lives. ✊✨
